Mission Medicare 3 from 8 to 18 August 2014
District 3080 of India has, under the strong commitment and leadership of RI Past President Rajendra K. Saboo and of its Governor Col. Dilip Patnaik, expressed its solidarity with the Rwandan people for the third time after 2012 and 2013.
It is a highly qualified team of 10 Surgeons (Orthopedic, plastic and maxillofacial), 4 anesthesiologists, 1 psychologist and 12 volunteers who intervened during a big week and long days. Thus, more than 120 patients of all ages, whose life had probably changed since then, have benefited from free surgery at the University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK).
CHUK medical team and local Rotarians led by DG Jean Runuya and PDG John Nyombayire have expressed support for this absolutely exemplary mission, which received the support of the highest authorities of the host country.
I had the honor and privilege to take part in this mission that allowed me to appreciate the organization and the remarkable work done but above all to share unforgettable moments of friendship of a rare human quality.
This action illustrates so well the force of what can be done to relieve human misery through Rotary, its Foundation and the ROTA program, and deserves to be reproduced on the continent.

Le district 3080 d’Inde a, grâce à l’engagement du Past Président du RI Rajendra K. Saboo et sous le leadership de son gouverneur Col. Dilip Patnaik, manifesté sa solidarité envers la population rwandaise pour la troisième fois après 2012 et 2013.
C’est une équipe de haut niveau composée de 10 chirurgiens (orthopédique, plastique, maxillo-facial), 4 anesthésistes, 1 psychologue accompagnée de 12 volontaires qui est intervenue durant une grosse semaine et de longues journées. Ainsi, plus de 120 patients de tous âges, dont la vie a dû changer depuis ce jour, ont pu bénéficier d’interventions chirurgicales gratuites à l’hôpital universitaire de Kigali (CHUK).
L’équipe du CHUK ainsi que les rotariens locaux conduits par le DG Jean Runuya et le PDG John Nyombayire ont apporté leur appui à cette mission absolument exemplaire qui a reçu le soutien des plus hautes autorités du pays hôte.
J’ai eu l’honneur et le privilège de prendre part à cette mission qui m’a permis d’apprécier l’organisation et le travail remarquable accompli mais surtout de partager des moments inoubliables de camaraderie d’une qualité humaine rare.
Cette action illustre à souhait la force de ce qui peut fait pour soulager la misère humaine à travers le Rotary, sa Fondation et le programme ROTA, et qui mériterait d’être reproduit sur notre continent.
